Today our MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group went to the local pumpkin patch. We had an absolute blast. Matt petted goats in the petting zoo, watched ducks go down a slide, did a corn maze, played in the pumpkin patch, saw pumpkins launched into the air by a huge pumpkin chucker, and in the highlight of his day, and indeed perhaps his short existence, got to ride on a trailer behind a big tractor. He had a huge morning, and was so exhausted when we left he was asleep in the car before I made it back to the main road.
This goat was happy to be fed some fine goat chow by Matt. In fact, it was so happy that it ate all the goat chow and then ate the paper cup the goat chow came in.
Walking in the corn maze (Charles says this is actually sorghum, but that's okay. The big corn maze was so big we'd still be in it now if we'd attempted it. Here is an aerial picture of it.)
Ducks on a pond:
With his little friend Lara:
This is my friend Jami's little girl Megan - she and Matt hate each other, for some unfathomable toddler reason. You can see how happy he looks to be sitting next to her.
The trailer and tractor that we rode to the pumpkin patch:
(I love this picture - he's all grubby and looks like he just came in from the fields.)
Picking our pumpkins:
Matt picked his pumpkin out himself ("do by self! ALL BY SELF!!!") and he loves it. In fact, he's quite cross because I won't let him bring the pumpkin inside from the front porch. He will occasionally go over to the window and howl "Pumpkin! Want pumpkin!" I think we'll either carve it or paint it this weekend. More pics to come of that adventure.
