Anyway, Matt got to ride on some of the carnival rides, which Charles said he loved. He drove Tin Lizzies and some other cars and was apparently fearless. He usually is.

Chicken Festival
Since our county is the home of the original KFC, our town hosts the World Chicken Festival every year, featuring, among other things, the World's Largest Skillet and a Colonel Sanders Look-a-Like Contest. It's quite a big deal - the schools close for two days and everyone pours in from the surrounding counties. Since Matt's preschool had been studying the Festival all week, including watching a movie about the festival and making some fine chicken-themed crafts, he was totally hyped up to go. Charles took him down there this afternoon, and Matt had an excellent time. I was unable to go with them, as I've been pretty ill all weekend, but since it's a VERY small town, I actually got phone updates about their activities while they were down there - "I see Charles and Matt - where are you? No, they're fine - he just bought Matt a lemonade and they're looking at trucks." Gotta love small town life.
