Duck and cover

Since Matt's preschool started about a month ago, they have had two fire drills, a tornado drill, and and earthquake drill. Apparently for the earthquake drill they get under their tables and put a blanket over their head. I guess this is better than the earthquake instructions at our old university (which actually sat on a fault line). The emergency instructions were posted in every classroom and were as follows:

In case of fire, please use the emergency exits and the stairs. Do not use elevators.

In case of tornado, please move into the hallway away from windows and cover your head.

In case of earthquake, you are on your own.

That's exactly what it said. "You are on your own." No kidding.

Anyway. It's good to know that at least the preschoolers are prepared for all manner of natural disasters. Maybe next week they will learn how to guard against bear attacks.
