Yes, today we took the boy to his first circus, the Ringling Brothers Boom-A-Ring tour. It was also his father's first circus, so it was kind of big morning all around. Charles enjoyed himself very much, while Matt - possessing the attention span of a gnat - wasn't so keen on the whole experience. He liked the elephants and the motorcycle stunts, but beyond that was thoroughly unimpressed. He was content to sit and eat popcorn and cotton candy for a bit, though, so we were able to make it through the whole show.
Circus scenes:
Elephant carrying the flag for the national anthem
Boy enjoying his popcorn
White tiger on a disco ball - not something you see everyday
A big funny circus hat comes with the cotton candy - of course we all had to try it on.
It was too dark to take pictures for most of the show, but we also saw lots of acrobats, jugglers, clowns reenacting the Matrix, three motorcycles rocketing around inside a small wire sphere, and a guy who rode a tiny tiny bicycle through a flaming hoop. Interesting stuff.
And in case you are ever wondering, this is a what a good dad looks like:
Charles, with a MIGRAINE, at the incredibly loud circus, wearing the funny hat. Now that's a good sport right there.
