We wish you a Merry Christmas

Another wild Christmas has come and gone. Lots of family, laughter, food and toys with little pieces. Some highlights:

Christmas Eve - the calm before the storm

Totally excited by the huge present on Christmas morning:

It was a Lego table made by Charles that Matt adores, with a nice flat building surface and lots of storage for the Legos. Santa also brought a space station and a hospital. Only my child would ask for a hospital for Christmas, but that's what he wanted.

Other great presents included this Red Sox scarf from Aunt Janet - we all got matching ones. I love them.

Hamming it up:

Got my first real six string...

And 2005, Matt's first Christmas:

At Grandma and Grandpa's house, Matt was thrilled to receive a remote controlled car that flips itself over when it hits an obstacle and keeps going, as well as a stable with a horse corral and lots more Legos.

Richard, Mary and Robin (note the obligatory bow-on-head sported by Richard)

The day after Christmas we went to Big Ed's, a locally famous pizza place that native Oak Ridgers return to like swallows to Capistrano during the holidays. Matt loved watching the pizzas being made and we all loved the greasy, drippy, foldy, perfect pizza. This place hasn't changed at all since I was growing up: the decor remains unchanged, the pizza still comes with tiny paper plates, and the jukebox still plays three songs for fifty cents. All that's missing is Big Ed himself sitting at the bar in the back.

It was a highly satisfactory Christmas, with lots of time to visit with family. There's always so much planning that goes into the logistics of seeing everyone on Christmas, but it is without question worth the effort.

Giant presents are the best! I love the family portrait this year and we had a great time at Big Eds. I think we all need Team Hosker Big Ed's t-shirts.
