The weather was GLORIOUS here today, so we took advantage of it fully. One of my students had invited me to a Civil War battle reenactment she was participating in this weekend, so we packed up and headed over to Cumberland Gap, Tennessee to check it out. We ended up missing the battle, but got to see some interesting camp life and lots of reenactors in costume. Matt was less than impressed with the whole experience - "We missed the fighting?! What?!" - but I enjoyed it, and my student was pleased we had come.
After that we crossed back into Kentucky and visited Cumberland Gap National Park. We'd
been there before, when Matt was about two. He was much more interested this trip, and loved being able to see three states from the top of Pinnacle Point.

| I refused to buy the $14 Junior Ranger hat - but it was awfully cute. |
After a long afternoon walking around the park, we capped off the day with ice cream at Dairy Queen. A very good end to a very good day.

| Still not happy we missed the fighting. |
